AWN4MV Grade 12 Painting with Mr. Fong - November 23, 2017

On November 23rd, 2017 Mr. Fong's grade 12 painting class participated in a full day trip. In the morning they participated in The Canadian Art Foundation School Hop is an important youth initiative aimed at education and outreach to Toronto’s secondary-school students. This free half-day program offers a unique opportunity for a younger generation to participate in the cultural landscape of Toronto. Since 2003, this semi-annual program has hosted an ever-increasing number of students (approximately 1,600 in the 2012–2013 school year) at Toronto studios and galleries on tours led by local artists and curators. The program provides free bus transportation, pays for artists and curators to lead discussions with students, and gifts each participant with a current issue of Canadian Art magazine and a sketchbook to continue their explorations. In this program, participating students are exposed to different artistic practices from diverse cultural backgrounds. They visit commercial galleries and artist-run spaces, and they meet professional artists and curators. The program encourages a free exchange of ideas about art, culture and society, and it establishes a historical context for approaching contemporary art practices. In the afternoon the student's toured around graffiti alley also known as Rush Lane and famous as the backdrop in the "Mercer Report" rants. This is a kilometre of wall murals and graffiti art that runs from Portland to Spadina. Then the student's class traveled to 401 Richmond. 401 Richmond Street West is a restored, heritage-designated, industrial building turned arts-and-culture hub in downtown Toronto. It is home to over 140 artists, cultural producers, social innovators, microenterprises, galleries, festivals, and shops.

Wexford Senior Boys Volleyball - East Region Tier 2 Gold Medalists

Wexford Senior Boys Volleyball played at home against R.H. King Academy on November 10.  It was a nailbiter, as we won the first set, lost the second, but came through to win in front of the home crowd.

The Vikings are the 2017-2018 East Region Tier 2 Gold Medalists!
