Wexford Participates in TDSB Technological Skills Competition!

Several Wexford students took part in the TDSB Technological Skills Competition across the city this week.

  • Angel Y. won gold in Graphic Design Presentation

  • Precious A. and Oscar P. captured gold in 2D animation while Izzy S. and Annetta earned silver. Both teams did an outstanding job!

  • Charlie D. scored a gold in Fashion and

  • Mustafa C earned gold in this year's Photography competition.

 All gold medal winners will move onto the Ontario Skills Finals this May to compete with gold place winners from all across Ontario. Congratulations to all student competitors for their dedication and hard work and to the teachers including Mrs.Ceponis, Mr. Kong, Mr. Astrella, and Ms. Aquino who stepped in to volunteer this year.

Wexford Student Submission Selected for TDSB Mental Health and Well-Being 2022 Poster Contest

The TDSB Child and Youth Services held their annual Mental Health and Well-Being 2022 Poster Contest with the theme of #allthepiecesofme, and Charlotte H. had their submission selected!

Claire Doyle from TDSB Child and Youth Services presented Principal Kenn Harvey and Charlotte with copies of the winning submission for the school as well as for our talented artist.

Wexford Illustration Students Selected for Pickering Community Banner Program

The Pickering Community Banner Program celebrates the culture, heritage and beauty of our City. The City of Pickering invites Canadian artists of all ages, or artist teams, to submit artwork (old or new) to be used for the Community Banner Program. Using a single or a variety of mediums, artists are asked to highlight the cultural, heritage, and diversity of the City of Pickering through the annual theme. 2021 Theme was “The Roots of Art”.

Up to 35 Community banners will be selected through an open call for art. Call for 2021 are now closed. Selected banners will be installed throughout City Centre (Esplanade North, Esplanade South, Valley Farm Road, Glenanna Road, Kingston Road) in early December 2021.

Selected artwork will be shown online at pickering.ca/culture. The archive will include an image of the banner, along with the artist’s statement, and location. Banners will be hung, for a period of one year. Banners in excellent condition may be re-purposed, or removed to make room for next set of selected entries.
