On Monday April 7th twelve Visual and Media Art students had the honour of meeting the Deputy Mayor Norm Kelly at City Hall. This privilege was bestowed upon them because each student had their personal artwork chosen to hang in the Deputy Mayors Office. Norm Kelly is a huge supporter of the arts and he had put out a request to various schools asking for art. Once our work was accepted and hung we were invited to come down and meet the deputy Mayor in person. We had a wonderful morning and Mr. Kelly acknowledged students personally and thanked them for their hard work and their commitment to the arts. He shook hands, posed for photos and then took all of us on a tour of the council chamber and we even saw Doug Ford in action. Fortunately for the students the work will be returned before the end of the year, but until then they can say, “My work is hanging at City Hall”.
