THE DIFFERENCE
Because of our continuing ties to the professional film, television and theatre community, we frequently arrange workshops and masterclasses for our students conducted by some of Toronto’s leading artists. This gives the Wexford students the strongest background possible as they represent us on major Canadian stages (Mirvish, Stratford, Shaw), Broadway, TV shows, and in blockbuster films.
Recent Highlights…
In 2016-2017, we partnered with soulpepper theatre on a pilot project to promote young playwrights. The culminating of that project was an original full-length theatre piece created by our drama focus students in collaboration with soulpepper directors and teaching artists.
Since 2015, Our students have had the opportunity to share the stage with emerging professional artists in original works at the Toronto Fringe Festival (Summerland, The Fence, True North Mixtape, One Small Step).
Since 2016, we have been in partnership with Musical Stage Company and Outside the March to develop Britta Johnson and Anika Johnson’s immersive theatre piece Dr. Silver: A Celebration of Life. During the summer of 2018, it was presented as part of the Luminato Festival, and in the fall of 2018 our students will perform in a full professional run of the finished product.
